Red Zebra Tours visitors stay at Red Zebra Lodge at Kambiri point. The Lodge is ideal for a casual stay overnight; a family seeking an extended public holiday weekend, a weekend conference or group meet-up. Many professors, biologists, zoologists, and other academic from all over the world have stayed at the lodge as have ornamental fish importers and wild life enthusiasts eager to see their fishes in their natural habitat. The lodge consists of six double rooms, opening onto a small veranda – each room is ‘en-suite' with shower, toilet and washbasin with hot and cold running water. (Piped water is from the lake but boiled and filtered drinking water is provided by the room staff). The rooms hold 1 double or 2 single beds with mosquito nets and a oscillating fan. There are ample 220 volt AC electrical outlets for charging video & camera batteries etc. Three photos immediately below show interiors of the six room block. The six double rooms.Two double rooms are in the other high-roof thatched guest cottage with similar en-suite amenities – see right photos…. Every opportunity is taken to furnish visitors with Lake Malawi fish dishes – usually ‘chambo' (Tilapia spec) or ‘kampango' ( Lake Catfish – Bagrus meridionalis). From the small private bar in the rondaval soft drinks (minerals) and the excellent Malawi Carlsberg beer are available for the visitors' account. Spirits and wine are also available as are a variety of postcards. The two sunshades (left) are also for evening braai meals under the stars with a camp fire. This plus a local band gives atmosphere and a motive for dancing on the sand till late….
