Airport Development Limited

Airport Developments Limited (ADL), the company that owns and manages Lilongwe International Airport, was incorporated in 1977 under the Companies Act with the purpose of spearheading the development of the then new Lilongwe International Airport.

In 1983 the company took on additional functions of managing and operating the new airport on a commercial basis. In the same year Lilongwe International Airport became fully operational and was designated the main gateway to and from Malawi.

We are essentially commercially oriented. Our aim is to manage and operate Lilongwe International Airport to a high degree of efficiency, with greatest regard for safety and security and to strict standards of hygiene and cleanliness. We achieve this goal through close liaison with the aviation partners at the airport who perform various specialised functions.

Lilongwe International Airport (LIA) is situated in the Central Region of Malawi, 28 kilometres to the north of Lilongwe City, the Capital of Malawi. It boasts of a relatively modern and clean passenger terminal building and has adequate infrastructure and facilities for the safe operation of aircraft and smooth processing of passengers.

The airport is conveniently located 100 kms away
from the splendid waters of Lake Malawi and is within easy reach of Kasungu National Park.

Mvuu Lodge & Camp

The Lodge and Camp are situated in Liwonde National Park, which is south of Lake Malawi and on the eastern bank of the mighty Shire River.

With a fantastic range of habitats – open water, floodplain, mopane woodland, mature riverine forest, marsh and wooded hills, this is the country’s most scenic and game-rich wilderness area.

The river hosts huge concentrations of hippo and crocodile and the Park also has large herds of elephant, sable antelope, impala, waterbuck, buffalo, kudu, leopard and lion. The birding is superb with a species list of over 300 with many rare and colourful species.

Mvuu Lodge is Malawi’s most secret destination. With just 5 en suite “Hemmingway” tents, including the legendary honeymoon suite, each with a private balcony and set spectacularly on a secluded lagoon, the Lodge offers superb comfort in a wonderful bush setting. There is a rock swimming pool connected to the lodge by a wooden walkway and the thatched lounge, raised high over the lagoon, has a comprehensive library.

Mvuu Camp accommodates 36 guests in cool en suite stone and thatch chalets and has 5 specially designed family units. It has a thatched lounge and dining area right on the river and can cater for individuals, couples, groups and families.

We also:

a.) Sponsor students to Technical Colleges in Malawi
b.) Run Private Sector Training for companies that comply to provisions of the TEVET Act over levy payment
c.) Work to revise curricula for training modules to make it relevant to the needs of Malawi's economy

Looking at the objectives and activities above, one can appreciate the role TEVETA plays in the tourism industry.
